Trying out a new method............

I need to try something new for my family. We have been eating out WAY too much, so I need to come up with some easy new recipes. Having exciting recipes to taste should help bring down the food budget to a manageable level:-) At least that is my hope.

I also want to have the kids cool meals so they won't be useless in the kitchen when they are off to college. My son leaves in a week, so he gets to cook one meal every day. This way he can enjoy cooking on Friday nights at his dorm. He has a few things he can make, but needs to perfect the spices. I am horrible about just shaking on what looks right.

So on tap for tonight will be............Steak, steamed broccoli and mashed potatoes. Simple? yes, but a staple for any good cook.

Just Crepes.........

Always a lovely day when your daughter forgets to turn off her second alarm she set. She had already left for school, so I had to get up and turn it off ( read ripping the cord out of the socket and throwing on the bed:-) I enjoy my hour after she leaves.........usually lol.

So since I was already up, I decided to get creative in the kitchen. On tap for this morning was crepes with a twist. I have the basic recipe down so I started thinking of spicing it up.

The first try was to add garlic and pepper to the original mix and make Savory Garlic Chicken wraps. It worked out well, I will certainly be adding more spices when introducing this again to my family. It didn't get soggy which was a major concern for me.

The second try was to use corn flour and white flour mix. I added cilantro, garlic, taco seasoning, pepper and salt to the batter. After sitting you have to mix it well for the corn flour to mix. It was a success, but you guessed it I need to work on the spice mix. I will test it out with enchilada sauce on Friday evening.

Pictures to come soon:-)
